Engineering Team Leader

Location : Jakarta, Indonesia

 

Professional, methodical and social competences:

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering 
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in construction. Working experience in formwork industry is required
  • AutoCAD (or similar) operating skills / experience is essential
  • Fluent English both oral and written, Bahasa Indonesia (preferably)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship at all levels
  • Very good organizational skills
  • Experience in leading a design team
  • Intercultural awarenes and competence: ability to effectively interact, communicate and collarborate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to adapt to change and work under pressure

Core tasks:

  • Design & development: Lead the design and development of efficient and safe formwork / shoring / scaffolding applications. Ensure all designs meet safety standards, project specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Project oversight: Oversee and manage multiple projects of the team from conception to completion. Ensure timelines, budgets and quality standards are met. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution at all stages of the project.
  • Technical leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Engineers and team members. Foster a collaborative team environment, encourage knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Engineering analysis: Conduct and oversee structural analysis and calculations to validate the integrity and safety of designs as per PERI and local standards.
  • Client interaction: Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide expert advice on the possible PERI systems applicable for the requirement. Prepare and present detailed design proposals and technical reports.
  • Quality assurance: Implement and maintain strict quality control within the team and share those values with related teams and customers.
  • Resource management: Manage and allocate resources effectively to maximize productivity and efficiency. 

Responsibilities:

  • Skill development & supervision: Enhance and elevate the skills and competencies of team members in design and calculation via on-the-job training and effective supervision.
  • Design validation: Review, discuss and approve desings, material lists and statical calculations prepared by team members, ensuring adherence to PERI standards and requirements.
  • Task management: Schedule and monitor tasks of the team members (Design Engineer, Junior Design Engineer, Trainee Engineer or similar) to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks and projects. 
  • Continous improvement: Identify opportunities for design improvements and process optimizations to continuously enhance the teams output and efficiency.
  • Technical support: Understand and address technical challenges faces by team members, providing expert guidance and solutions.
  • Capacity planning: Prepare and update internal capacity plans for the team, ensuring alignment with both internal and external commitments.

Overall conditions / Interfaces /Internal Customers / Suppliers:

  • Engineering Team Members: Lead and collaborate with the members of the Engineering group to achieve project goals and maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Internal support functions: Work closely with internal support functions such as the Strategic Business Development, Technical Support Office (TSO) and the Engineering Competence Center (ECC) to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Internal customers: Serve as a key interface for internal stakeholders, including General Manager, Project Managers, Product Specialists, Sales Engineers, Operations teams and the Head of Engineering, to meet project requirements and customer expectations effectively.
